Time To Dabble Our Toes

Our flights are booked and in less than a week we will be in Penang, having a holiday and checking it out to see if its somewhere we would like to live permanently.

We’ve watched loads of videos and are expecting to find:

• Cheap prices, but not Bali cheap
• Incredible food of many different cuisines
• Culture and history
• Beautiful beach/ocean views
• Friendly locals and expats
• Crazy traffic
• High humidity!!!

If the reality is as good as we’ve been led to believe, we’re going to get serious about this move.

We were already leaning towards heading off on a new adventure, but after the Australian Labor government dropped the most horrendous, demoralising budget we have ever seen, there’s not much point staying in Australia – not if we want to fund our own retirement anyway, or even have the opportunity to retire! Like the majority of Australians right now, we feel like we’re being screwed-over every direction we turn.

Rant over, since this blog is not about politics but about fun and exciting travel adventures.

We’re excited to get to Penang and start exploring… so I’m heading off to start packing. Not that it will take long to pack shorts, t-shirts and jandals!
